The roots of the lineage of Sri Sri Balananda Ashram dates back to as early as 1904, first established at Karnibad, Deoghar, by Sri Sri Balananda Brahmachari – our Param Pujaniya Sri Sri Boro Guru Maharaj, who is one of the most revered saints amongst the most eminent sages of all times. Sri Sri Balananda Brahmachari led an assiduous and enigmatic life of a Naisthik Brahmachari. During the initial phases of his life, he travelled all over the nation, praying and preaching the name of God. However, on establishing Sri Sri Balananda Ashram at Deoghar, he deeply contemplated about the needs of mankind, and the ways in which one can serve God through service to mankind. Thereby, he went on establish the Sanskrit college at Deoghar, aiming to preserve and impart the beautiful language amongst the youths of India, at that time. Further, he also established the Ayurvedic Hospital at Deoghar, with an aim to make medical treatment available to all.
Treading on the noble path, shown by Sri Sri Balananda Brahmachari, our Param Pujaniya Sri Sri Guru Maharaj – Sri Sri Mohanananda Brahmachari, went on to establish numerous schools, colleges, hospitals, Bridhyashrams and Tirthashrams all over India. He dedicated his entire life for the betterment of the society and emerged himself in the service of God through service to mankind. To ensure that his noble works are carried on at full pace, he established various Trusts. One of his noble and divine dream was to establish a Cancer Hospital with world-class infrastructural facilities, which would help save millions of lives. For this, Mohanananda Cancer Hospital, Durgapur had been established by him and it is growing rapidly with his divine grace. Till date, the Trusts work to fulfill his dreams in accordance to his guidelines and principles.
Walking more than a century, down the line, we have grown as one of the most iconic religious institutions in India, having a philanthropic outlook towards the society and mankind.
We aspire to walk further on the path shown by our Param Pujaniya Sri Sri Balananda Brahmachari and Sri Sri Mohanananda Brahmachari, and continue to serve mankind in every possible way.
